Gators’ Jaye Howard earns SEC weekly honor

Florida junior DT Jaye Howard has been named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Howard was in on 47 plays and accounted for five total tackles (three solo), including 2.5 sacks, in Florida’s 34-12 win against Miami (Ohio). The 2.5 sacks were for a total loss of 17 yards and was the first multi-sack performance of Howard’s career.

Howard anchored a defensive line that allowed just four yards rushing on 22 carries.
